MODULE 2 : CONVENTIONAL SURVEY INSTRUMENTS

Chain Surveying : Ranging and chaining, Well and ill conditioned triangles, Setting perpendiculars using cross staff & chain (3-4-5 method)
Compass Surveying : Concepts of meridians and bearings, Types of compass conversion of bearings, Local attraction, Dip and Declination.
Leveling : Basic definitions, Types of leveling - simple, fly and check leveling.
Theodolite Surveying : Basic definitions, Measurements of horizontal & vertical angles.
Tachometry : Stadia and tangential methods.

MODULE 3 : TOTAL STATION

Introduction to GPS - Spatial data.
Total station survey - practice

MODULE 4 : APPLICATION

Traversing using various instruments Chain, Compass and Theodolite.
Contouring - Characteristics, uses and methods.
Measurements of areas and volumes using different methods.
Setting out works - buildings, curves.
Project surveys - Highways, Railways and Waterways.

MODULE 5 : PRACTICAL REPORT

Hands on training should be given to the students supplementing the theory, starting from day one of the course and a record of work done is to be submitted by the students.
